SVQ – Social Services and Healthcare
Introduction:
Scottish Vocational Qualifications assess the practice competence of health and social care workers within their specific job role. This qualification is for individuals working in adult services. The SVQ’s are available at different levels depending on the specific job role:
Level 2 – SCQF Level 6– For support staff who usually provide personal care services
Level 3 – SCQF Level 7 – For health and care workers with a responsibility for Care Planning
Level 4 – SCQF Level 9 – For those with a management responsibility
Course Content:
Each SVQ consists of mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units include effective communication, health and safety, developing your own practice and protection of individuals from harm and abuse. The optional units chosen will reflect the day-to-day activities within your job role. These units will be chosen in discussion with your assessor.
Entry Requirements:
You must be working in an adult social or health care environment. This will usually be as an employee.
Career Paths:
This SVQ has been designed to meet the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration requirements for health and care staff members.
