First Aid – Health and Dental Practitioners
This course is designed for individuals working in Medical, Healthcare, and Social Care environments and includes those in supporting roles. The individuals who undertake this course are most likely to be working in Health Centres, General Practitioners (GP) Surgeries, Dental Surgeries, Health and Social Care Partnerships, Community Health Centres. Individuals may be working in the role of GP, Nurse, Health or Social care worker, Dentist, Dental Assistant, Administrator and other support roles.
This course is designed to meet with your requirements to complete Continuous Professional Development through annual updates that include all necessary changes to first aid practice. Professional standards for your accreditation of first aid skills may require specific hours or content of training beyond that listed here. Topics covered include:
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive (including seizures)
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Use of an AED (Heart Defibrillator)
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is in shock
Finer Details:
Duration: This course can be delivered flexibly from 2 – 4 hours. The topics covered in a 2-hour delivery will include Recovery Position, CPR and the use
of an AED. If the other topics are required these will be delivered in addition to the above over a period of 4 hours.
Cost: Varies according to mode of delivery
Validity: On completion you will receive a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Certificate noting your attendance and the subjects covered. Please note this is not a Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) certificated course.
