HNC Social Care – SCQF LEVEL 7
Aim of Course:
The HNC in Social Care is suitable for people who work or wish to work in settings where care and support is being provided for individuals or groups. The main aim is to provide an integrated course of practice and theory to equip candidates to work effectively in a range of social care settings.
The HNC comprises a number of Mandatory Units which cover topics such as: Social Care Values, Psychology, Sociology and Social Policy along with a number of optional units such as: Multi-disciplinary Team Working, Stress Management and Challenging Behaviour. The course includes core units from the SVQ Level 3 and students will also undertake practice experience within a relevant care setting.
Previous experience in the sector is desirable but not essential. You should be able to provide evidence of achievement at Higher Level (SCQF Level 6). If this is unavailable then you may be asked to complete a pre-registration activity.
Employment in Social Work and Social Care. The HNC Social Care is recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a suitable qualification for registration in care environments.
